Why was this app made?
I set out to explore a solution with waste management issues in my local community due to an increase in fly-tipping.
Research findings?
I discovered a poor quality of services provided by my local council with missed collection dates & little information on nearby waste disposal points.
The solution?
A versatile app that focuses on informing users on approved nearby waste disposal points & providing streamlined communication with local councils by reporting waste issues.
Waste Point Locations
The user is given the ability to locate nearby waste disposal points approved by the local council. Users can also receive directions and learn what waste categories are accepted at each waste disposal location.
Informing Through Education
As my research suggested, effective waste management relies on a well-informed public as education plays a crucial role influencing attitudes and behaviours towards waste management.
Therefore, informing users on the various types of waste produced and of the environmental impacts can help solve the issue.
Streamline Communication
Issues with communication between users and local councils are very apparent. The failure to fully address the waste issue and follow up on complaints leave people feeling frustrated.

This led to creating an essential feature in being able to simply submit reports in regards to waste issues via phone camera and providing additional details to ensure accessible and responsive communication.
